Greetings fellow readers–reader? After an insane absence from The Sausage Factory, I am back with some news, tidbits and overall deliciousness. To start, I would just like to do some shameless promotion. Tuesday the 1st of December 2009, I will be showcased as part of the Poets & Writers reading series at SUNY/Westchester Community College. The reading is double slotted, so you can see me twice, how nice! 10 am and 11 am respectively. This will be on campus in the large lecture hall in the classroom building. I think it’s going to be packed, so come early to hear me read.
OK. Now that that bit is over, on to my next topic: Adam Lambert at the AMAs. I would just like to start by saying I loved it!! Well, maybe not the singing part as I thought his vocals weren’t really that good (with the sound system?). However, I did enjoy the song enough to buy the single from iTunes the next day for only 99 cents. The song is great and if you listen to the lyrics, the performance really pays tribute to them. If I was a star, that would be the exact type of performance I would give, except my performance would have more simulated sex, more male on male kissing and more aggression overall. Go big or go home is what I say. The problem people are having with this show is just another example of how general America does not like gays, sex or artistry. What Adam did is bold for a male performer; it is usually the females that pull out tricks like that, ie Madonna, Lady Gaga… Adam is a gay male and he is not afraid to say it and show it. Good for him. It’s about time there was a Gay star that wasn’t scared of really showing himself (aside for George Michael, as that was a different type of showing himself). Gays in Hollywood walk around on eggshells and it is time to stop. Get up, get out there, and show the world what we can do! Come out of the shadows boys and shove some male dancers’ faces in your crotches–it’s okay, I say so.
Now, speaking of the gays, ALL HAIL LADY GAGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A gift from the heavens. Gaga is a breath of fresh air in a very stale pop environment. Originality, talent, and heart, Lady GAGA is saving pop music and our souls. If you haven’t gotten her new album THE FAME MONSTER, go out and get it. It’s only $8!!! Thanks to Gaga sticking up for her fans and their wallets. A++ for battling your own label, Gags. I can’t wait to see her on tour in NY this January. Hardest tickets to get in town, but worth the blood, sweat, and tears. Gaga, you leave me Speechless.
As of comebacks, aside from my own, Whitney Houston. All I have to say on this matter is she still seems a little crackie. You needin’ a little of the old dust to get you going out there on stage Whit, Whit?? “The Greatest Love of All” for sure!
Until next time…
